Social responsibility and sustainability are incorporated into the operations of Nitro Química. The company works focussed not only on preventing environmental and social impacts, but also on improving the environment and the community in which it operates.
In order to achieve this, the company implements social projects in the community, such as Family Action (Ação Família) and Local Memory at School (Memória Local na Escola). The company also holds safety drills with the community and involves the people and local organizations in the discussion of solutions for the local area.
In 2006, Nitro Química received the Energy Use and Conservation Award, granted by the Industry Federation of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp). This award is an acknowledgement for the efforts made to reduce the consumption of electricity, natural gas and water, through the modernization of its equipments.
Remarkable actions were also undertaken to improve workers' quality of life. The company promotes the Better Life (+ Vida), which includes leisure, cultural, health and sports activities, as well as promotion of life quality. Activities to improve worker safety also take place within this context not only for own workers but also for third parties.
